Experience the spectacle of Kufenstechen – a long-running festival only seen in the Gail Valley – where the young men of the village gallop on horses bare-back, armed with metal clubs as they compete to destroy a wooden barrel mounted on a pole, and win the fairest maiden.

Enjoy Villach's Kirchtag – a week-long set of festivities, where locals dress up in their finest drndil and lederhosen, and celebrate in the streets at beer stalls and food vendors, with music and dancing.

If you enjoy fancy dress, then the Villach Fasching carnival - which has been running for over 100 years is for you. A giant celebration of costumes and music, don a costume and join the parade with the locals.
